Eficient-e: sustainable & energy saving glass

Thanks to Vitro’s research efforts and in response to market tendencies, the company has developed a broad range of thermal characteristic windows that generate energy savings by blocking high temperatures in the summer and cold in the winter.

These specialized windows also control light and clearness in the interior and exterior ambiance of the building thus offering maximum comfort.

One example of these products is Eficient-e®, a low light emitting window, that allows an ample passage of natural light while at the same time providing an important savings in energy costs.

“This an extraordinary low-e, lightly coated, high efficiency product that increases the solar energy filtering capabilities of float glass without changing its chemical composition; for this reason it is used as a visual and solar filter”, explains Jaime Guzman, Director of Float Glass.

He adds that, due to the properties of this product and for the purpose of guaranteeing its efficiency and performance, it must always be installed in a double glazing system: Duovent®.

The principal applications for these windows are in medium and monumental size buildings, residential, hospitals, show windows and virtually in any situation that requires heating and cooling systems and where energy savings are sought.

“It is important to point out that in October 2009 Vitro started its “CR1” Production Line for Low Emission and Solar Control Glass thus becoming the first Mexican company to produce this type of glass offering value added solutions to the architectural and construction markets and reconfirming its commitment to sustainable development”, he comments.
