First was the annual contest “Stellar Containers and Packaging 2009” organized by AMEE, where 45 different containers developed by Vitro for the health and beauty industry (23), food industry (8) and beverage industry (14) were awarded. A special award was given in this contest to the container that was the winning proposal for the campaign “The most innovative design in a glass container”, organized by Vitro and the Anáhuac University. This campaign’s objective is to promote and spread information about the benefits of using glass as a packaging material among students studying graphic and industrial design. At the same time AMEE in 2009 organized, for the first time, the competition to award the Sustainable Container Award, a distinction that was also awarded to Vitro. “This Award implies that we are a design focused Company and a supplier of container systems that optimize the environmental performance in the product supply chain for its entire life cycle; we are proud to work with a material that is 100% recyclable, that contributes to the conservation of the environment and allows us to leave a more transparent world to future generations”, explains Roberto Romero, Marketing Director for Vitro’s glass container business unit. On the other hand, and for the third consecutive year the WPO granted its coveted and maximum prize “World Star Award” to three containers manufactured by Vitro, two in the category of beverages and one in the category of health and beauty. On this occasion, during the annual award ceremony that took place in México City, 136 containers were judged from companies from 32 countries from around the world. The glass bottles of Tequila Real de México (Destilería Morales), The Ultimate Margarita (Casa Cuervo) y Anew Ultimate Contouring eye system (Avon), designed by Vitro were awarded the maximum prize. The criteria used by the judges panel included: ease in filling with the contents, opening and closing, protection and preservation of the contents, adequate information, attractiveness for its sale, economy in materials used, reduction in production costs, compatibility with the environment and adjustment to local conditions. 05.08.2009, Vitro, S.A. de C.V.
