Vitro receives the coveted distinction as an “ESR” for the third year

For the third consecutive year Vitro earned the Distinction of being a Socially Responsible Company for 2010 in recognition of its commitment to the integral development of its employees, the care and preservation of the environment, its continuous support to the community and by showing ethical and transparent management.

As in the previous two years four companies received the distinction: Vitro Corporate Offices, The Vitro Clinic, Float Glass and Vitro Containers.

“This acknowledgement shows that in spite of the great challenges present today, at Vitro we continue to work intensely to offer our clients quality products and services with a clear focus on continual improvement as well as always exercising a positive influence in the communities where we are present”, assures us Hugo Lara, Vitro CEO.

He adds that today, more than ever, Vitro’s efforts to promote sustainable development are essential to assure leadership in the markets that the company services.

“It’s also important to point out that this year Vitro helped one of its suppliers, Calzado Industrial Duramax, earn the Distinction for being a Socially Responsible Company “PYME”, for the first time, thus consolidating its strategy of encouraging social responsibility within its value chain”, points out Albert Chico, Manager for Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility.

The ESR award will be given by the Mexican Center of Philanthropy (CEMEFI) during the 3rd Forum of Socially Responsible Companies that will take place in Mexico City on March 17 and 18.

This award joins the other awards Vitro has received from CEMEFI such as Best Corporate Practices 2008 and 2009 in the categories of Corporate Ethics and Responsible Consumption. All of Vitro’s companies are eligible to receive the ESR award, renewable for one year, in the areas of: corporate image, advertising, facilities, vehicles and products, to name a few, for the purpose of letting its interested audience appreciate this achievement and value the company’s commitment to responsible management.
