Mrs Ciner was one of more than 200 of the world’s leading CEOs, who were invited to attend the exclusive Summit at Hampton Court Palace, which aimed to showcase the UK as one of the best places in the world to do business. At the event, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak unveiled £29.5 billion of new investment for a variety of thriving UK sectors.
As part of the event, Mrs Ciner was invited to a reception at Lancaster House on Sunday, November 26, with the Secretary of State for Business & Trade and President of the Board of Trade Kemi Badenoch MP alongside the Minister for Investment, Lord Dominic Johnson to discuss steps being taken by the UK Government to open up investment opportunities for the UK.
On Monday, at the Global Investment Summit, Mrs Ciner held various meetings with senior members of Government to update them on the recent ground-breaking ceremony at the site in Lommel, Belgium, as well as updating officials on progress being made on the development of a state-of-the-art glass factory in South Wales.
Other notable attendees at the Global Investment Summit included Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of the world’s biggest alternative asset manager Blackstone, CEO and Founder Anya Hindmarch CBE and major global investors, including David Solomon, Chief Executive of Goldman Sachs; Amanda Blanc, CEO of Aviva; Ignacio Galán, Chairman of Iberdrola; and JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.
Mrs Ciner attended keynote speeches, including with the new Foreign Secretary, Lord David Cameron, on the state of the global economy, and with the Chief of MI6 Richard Moore, on the future of national security.
She also held talks with His Majesty King Charles, where the two discussed Ciner Glass’ role in creating industry-leading recycled glass plants.
For the final day of the three-day summit, Mrs Ciner attended the philanthropy breakfast at Downing Street with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt MP, to discuss technological progress being made in various sectors, including the glass industry.
