Our delivery program includes gas, oil, electrically and oxyfuel heated glass melting furnaces and auxiliary furnaces. For day tanks with a melting capacity/output of more than 500kg / day a recuperator for preheating of air is necessary.
Our small day tanks are especially suitable for glass studios and show glass works. All plants are planned and designed according to your individual needs and will be installed and maintained worldwide. We deliver complete systems including process automatization, measurement and control technique. From the beginning until the end, we rely on quality and economic viability.
IWG-tank furnaces are designed according to the requirements of our customers and for the following glass types:
- soda lime glass
- white and colored crystal glass
- white and colored
IWG supplies the following tank furnace types:
- regenerative tank furnace
- recuperative U-flame tank furnace
- recuperative cross fired tank furnace unit melter type

JPG | 42070 | Gas heated furnace for Neutral Glass and Borosilicate Glass IWG has developed a furnace concept to melt Neutral glass (with alpha 45 - 50) and Borosilicate glasses (with alpha 33). The furnace is designed according to the mixed-melter principle. In the superstructure of the melting end either oxy-fuel or recuperative firing will be used. In addition to this heating there is in the melting area a bottom-electrode booster installed, in order to reach the required glass temperatures in the refining area. Melting area and refining area are devided by a weir. In front of this weir bubblers and a molybdenum electrode booster increase the glass temperature and help to generate a return current of the glass to the doghouse. Because of this system cold glass or unmelted glass can not enter the refining area and it also prevents the formation of crystobalite on the glass surface in front of the throat. Installed in the refining area is an IWG-draining system, which continuously drains the bottom glass with high Zircon content. The working end will be heated by molybdenum top-electrodes, which are immersed in the glass bath, through a cover plate of the working end distribution. The power regulation of electrical booster, thermal weir and working end heating is made by using single phase thyristor / transformer units. Advantages of using this furnace design: Lower energy costs in countries with lower gas prices Lower content of zircon cords Fewer defects by crystobalite stones Easier handling than a full electric furnace |
